the worst part about
the hunt
is the way
the noose
tightens
around their neck,

causing them to gasp and
sputter underneath you,
their groans of pain
crying
and crying
for help that will never come,

for help that never came to you,

and if you let them go now they
will tell you that it was never your
fault for being this way
but it always was,
in the end you made the choice to move
and grab and wrap and pull
and now their body is shuddering
beneath you

and they are dying
by your hands
alone.
