I Love You

Something I found on r/BPD that never left me and has always stuck with me ever since.

I love us. I don't post on here often, but I'd like to just take a few minutes to express to you all how treasured you are. This disorder is an absolute nightmare, and its greatest injustice is dismantling that beauty we're born with, made of, and capable of creating.

When we talk about the things that make people good or bad, we don't often cite BPD, but we, ourselves, may add the disorder to the bad list— because we've been devalued and are masters at devaluating ourselves. We've been told that we're monsters hiding in plain sight. We've been labeled as the forever "problem child."

Having a mental health disorder does not invalidate who you are and what you're capable of, and it doesn't matter if you're newly diagnosed or have been living with BPD for decades. You are a human being, a one of one, to be exact. There is no one in the universe who is an exact carbon copy of you, has your sensibilities, your hidden talents, and your consciousness.

Please tap into that for me.

Channel the good. Go to therapy if it's available. Call a dear friend who will listen. Go for a walk, or take a hot shower. It's completely unfair to rob yourself of small luxuries and isolate yourself from what the world has to offer. It's not your job to explain to everyone you come across what BPD is, how it may or may not affect your prospective relationship with them, and how it makes you feel.

You know your story, and you share it with whom you want to.

But remember that you have a story to begin with, and it's worth telling.

I love you.
