Life and Stuff

I've been off moving and such. Let me tell you all about it.

So, our close date was set for June 7th. The bank confirmed it over and over - we confirmed okay, we can get movers for that morning then? Yep! Good to go. Awesome.

June 7th rolls around and the bank says that actually, we didn't pay our May mortgage so we can't get the loan. Um, yes we did - here are the receipts/proof of payment/etc. Movers are loading the truck. Closing paperwork is set to be signed at 9:30am.

Then the bank says, oh well actually we don't have a Mortage Insurance Certificate so we can't close until the following week. Um, no. You should have obtained everything you needed prior to telling us we were good to move. Don't tell us ON THE DAY OF MOVING that we can't. We can't be homeless with 2 kids and 2 pets, and two trucks of stuff needing to be dropped off immediately when we are being charged by the hour.

So, it was a crazy battle and we finally closed at 1:30pm with the movers sitting on 2 trucks of our stuff with no place to go until those papers were signed. What a nightmare.

More nightmares unrolled that day - I found out that 2 acquaintances and 1 friend had died in the last week. We had to stop and call 911 for a car ablaze in a parking lot that we drove by (we had no idea if a person was inside or not). Our glass top entertainment center shattered.  A friend reported in that her dryer and air conditioner were broken and she was struggling. What a nightmare of a day!!

We got through it, though. Two days later, my partner proposed. Turns out that he was planning on doing it after we got into our new house together on the initial move date but it ended up being such an awful day that it was just NOT the right time! ha

So, super exciting update - WE ARE ENGAGED!!! Wow. Getting married. I'm 31 and have never been married. Have been proposed to once, but that ended up not working out - thankfully. After we get settled into our house here, we have some wedding planning to do!

In other news, my son came out to us as Gender Fluid and asked us to use a different name. I'm 1000% supportive and so is my whole family - except my mom and stepdad. Who apparently were making fun of our announcement of it. I can't believe what a bully you have to be to be an adult that makes fun of a 14 year old, but okay. Ugh.

Even my partner's mom who came to town for a week and is 69 years old was more than supportive. She caught on to their name change immediately and it wasn't an issue at all. It's not that hard to accept someone you love...

I suppose I should probably get some work done. I'm back today after a two week vacation - so much to get caught up on.

Escrow, loans, etc. Ugh. I hate it all!

But it's worth it once you settle into your home. I'm going through a similar process (again) right now.

Congrats!

Thank you! Definitely worth it in the end, and hope it goes smoothly for you! As smoothly as possible anyway. lol
