Lessons to be learnt, not counted. No.1

Love is not restricted to relationships, partners and sex. For example, we have love in our family without these things.

After my break-up I stopped believing in love, I did not believe it and thought it was a piece shit of terminology.

When I started working as a support worker last week I realised love is everywhere we go.

At work, people were dedicated to those I now look after alongside co-workers. if a co-worker has a shit day? they would cheer us up. That's giving love. If a resident we were looking after had communication difficulties? they would adapt. that's love. If a resident showed challenging behaviour? we would risk ourselves to show our love to them and there is so much more. I know it because I too adapted to do those things.

Outside of work I went on a walk. Why wasn't the area destroyed? I know we cut trees down but why do we at least still have some? Because we give love to the earth and also to the users of it. The birds sing in love. The sky changes to suit our needs of night and day, that's love.

We don't need love through co-dependancy and partners or relationships. Love is all around us. It's okay not to believe in it, but redefine it and make it yours. Witness how it surrounds us.
