2007- Elkhorn Inn B&B

My first MySpace post was my trip to Oregon I took in August 2007....As the summer was coming to a close and with the fall semester on the horizon, I decided to take a last minute vacation.  This was my first time to Oregon and the Elkhorn Bed & Breakfast, which was nestled in the Willamette National Forest in Lyons, OR.  I flew into PDX, rented a car, and drove I-5 to Salem then highway 22 to Fork Rd.  The guest house was absolutely charming and I was the only guest since it was a weekday.  My hostess waited on me hand and foot during my two-night stay and she made the best oatmeal raisin cookies with only half the sugar! She put lots of love into making those cookies, which made them that much better. My hostess suggested visiting Silver Falls State Park where I ended up driving on a closed road due to erosion! Then had dinner at the Sierra Mexican Restaurant about twelve miles down the road in Gates, OR.  I took Gates Rd, which was super steep! Upon returning, I sat in the lounge chair facing the picture window looking out onto the mountains sipping a hot chocolate.  Later that evening, the hostess' son, daughter, and I sang church songs on the outside deck while watching the deer down below.
The next morning my hostess made an amazing spinach/egg quiche with a side of fruit.  She also packed some oatmeal cookies for my drive back to Portland.  Upon arrival at  PDX, I saw that my flight had been cancelled.  Luckily, I didn't have to be back home for a few days and proceeded to figure out how to jump seat my way back to Houston.  Within an hour, I was on SWA from PDX-SMF, then SMF-ONT and then onto PHX.  I sat in the cockpit on the ONT-PHX leg and the captain showed me the release. The flight number and tail number were printed in big bold Arial-font letters. I visited and stayed with Dinah that evening and we ate dinner on Mill Ave. That was the last time I ever saw her. The next morning, I took Continental to IAH.  This trip takes me back to the year 2007 and will forever hold dear to me.
