Saint Asonia - Flawed Design (Album Review)

Flawed Design is the second debut album by the “supergroup” Saint Asonia, fronted by former Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier, Staind guitarist Mike Mushok, Art of Dying bassist Cale Gontier, and Staind drummer Sal Giancarelli. This was the only album recorded with Sal before he left in early 2020 and was replaced by Art of Dying drummer Cody Watkins. It was also the first to be recorded with Adam’s cousin Cale in the band.

To tell the truth, when this album came out, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be good, especially since I still wasn’t a fan of their first album at the time, and although Martyrs was the only one that really stood out to me on the first listen, I re-listened to it again a few months later and found myself really liking This August Day, Another Fight, Justify etc.

Between the two albums, this one blows the self-titled album out of the water for the most part in my opinion. I like the self-titled album a lot more after re-listening to it a few times as well, but the songs I mentioned on Flawed Design are some of my favourite songs from them.

Admittedly, I didn’t really care for anything they were putting out at first, but now I’m hopeful that their next album (which I will do a review on when it comes out) will be their best yet.
