Drag Kings and Things Need More Rep

Drag as it is portrayed most commonly today, is still filled with male privilege and patriarchy. Drag is so much more than ultra femininity portrayed by men.

I can count on one hand how many artists even slightly similar to me have been represented in mainstream United States media, as a genderfae masculine drag thing.
I have been in this art for almost a decade. I have been denied booking after booking because "the audience doesn't pay for what they don't know" and I am "not the look we are going for"
That 'look' means AMAB pageant queens, not the horror, comedic, bearded creativity me and mine bring to the table. It's heartbreaking to see my community get erased because we aren't the norm (even though non queens have been around just as long as their counterpart). This is widely due to lack of representation. A large amount of the population doesn't even know drag kings and things exist. I've had women say they aren't able to do drag because they aren't a man. They can! They can and they should. This art is for everyone. It is an art. Art doesn't know boundaries. Creativity doesn't have rules.
Being the Twisted Fae of Mischief that I am is such a joy. I fly, thinking happy thoughts, all the way to Neverland. I just want people to see it. To see the joy, and never grow up
