Alpha male/beta male... what's the difference? A lot of people seem to think the difference between the two is the alpha's "get the girls" while the beta's don't. I contend that if you think that is the standard, you are beta....male or female. You have submitted to a program of false standards. How successful you are at carrying out your programming is irrelevant. A true alpha is the one that is willing to walk alone anytime the cost of being accepted is loss of integrity, character and independence. A true alpha will sacrifice his/her own flesh desires especially when fulfilling them means reinforcing the programming of another. A true alpha seeks to bring out the alpha of others. It does not seek to create lifetime followers. Lifetime partners perhaps, but not followers. It desires equals. It desires to build others up, not hinder them.
Two examples of true alpha males come to mind. One is known to history, the other is not. George Meiser and August Landmesser. George Mesier was an elderly gentleman that I befriended before leaving Texas in 2002. He and his wife were childhood sweethearts. Both in their mid-late 90's. They had been married over 75 years. To be in their presence was to feel the love they had for each other. She was his baby... the only woman he had ever "known". There was no long list of sexual conquest for him.... only one lifetime partner. In her last days, her health had began to fail and she struggled to get up and down. He INSISTED on being the one to help her. Other, much healthier and younger people would offer, but it was not happening. He would give her his arm to pull on. One day, he was reaching into a cabinet to get something when a mutual friend noticed the inside of his arm. It was a deep dark black and blue. The entire inside of his arm was horribly bruised.
Helping her as he did had physically wounded him, yet he refused to stop. THAT is a true alpha... one who will gladly accept harm to themselves to help others.
The other example that I mentioned, August Landmesser, probably does not ring a bell until you see the picture that cemented his place in history. In a sea of men, women and children giving Adolf Hitler the nazi salute, he stands alone, arms crossed. He had joined the nazi party in an attempt to gain employment but then the love of a Jewish woman opened his eyes to their evil. Because of love, he was willing to stand alone against an entire crowd of beta followers. In the end, it cost him not only his job, but his life. Alpha to the end.
