Today, a few friends and I celebrated my roommate's 24th birthday.
It was a beautiful day here in Minnesota. Eighty-something degrees and sunny. Although the pool itself was closed, we were able to sit outside and grill, and most significantly, see each other's faces.
It was a little bit of normalcy after so many months of being stuck in a lifeboat, separated from the ones we love. The world is forever changed and will never quite go back to "normal," but for a moment, it was a blessing to pretend that it had.
