the f-slur

(Just a heads up, I will be using saying fag and/or faggot at multiple points throughout this entry)

I got in trouble with my dad for saying "fag" and "faggot" yesterday. Like, I could get it if I I wasn't out to him and said it, but he knows that I'm LGBTQ+ (with my sexuality at least). So basically, I was switching through radio stations, and Holiday by Green Day was playing on one. So when it got to the line where he says "kill all the fags that don't agree" I said something to my dad about how I wondered how they were allowed to put that on the radio, being that it's a slur. He asked me what what line I was talking about and I explained and quoted the line and he said "that's not a nice word to say, even when you're quoting a song" and I went on a full on rant about how they shouldn't be allowed to have it on the radio. In the process of the rant, I said the words fag and faggot once or twice to explain my point. He eventually snapped at me and told me to stop saying that. Like I get that they aren't the nicest of words, but first, I AM LGBTQ+ which means that I'm allowed to say it, and also, I wasn't even using it against people, I was using it in the context of "How are they allowed to say the words fag and faggot on the radio" I'm honestly thinking that this is another one of his attempts for me to stop representing the fact that I am LGBTQ+
