living in london, good idea or bad?

need to rant

im moving to london soon and honestly im kinda terrified lol
i have always lived in the same small town and the thought of moving to such a large bustling city is so scary. im trying to sort out a flat and a job, im moving for uni!
i have family that live there and i go up at least three times a year but thats just visiting. i have no clue about living there. is it as expensive as everyone says? or as dangerous as everyone says?

so I think my main point of this is to ask if there are any londoners here that are able to give me tips about living here. if so please message!!
thank u!
love and light<3

hello!

i moved to london for grad school last october! should preface by saying i am American, so i imagine my experience will be a bit different lol, but so far i like it!

it is expensive, but there are lots of ways you can cut corners. definitely get a student travelcard if you can (opt for the bus too), and check out the services your uni provides (a lot of times they offer free subscriptions to software like adobe, printing, student discounts, uni bars, etc.).

in terms of the city, there is always something to do here, which i really like coming from a smaller town. there are a lot of things you can do for free as well (almost all the major museums are free, lots of parks).

i think as long as you keep an eye on your bank account you'll be alright. focus on enjoying your uni experience!

What i mean by not for the faint of heart is just walking the streets of london you’re going to run into interesting characters. Along with how the streets are busy and people aren’t really friendly at all. I feel like its a ‘culture shock’ if you’re moving from a more rural part of England

heyyy

Im a londoner, lived there all my life.

London is very expensive and as someone who is moving to London, you'll probably have a hard time adjusting for a while.
Personally, London isn't as dangerous as people say. unless you're personally in a gang, no one will target you anymore than living in another city.

I absolutely love living in London but its not for the faint of heart!!

If you have any more questions feel free to friend me!!

hey babe, I lived in London for a year with my dad but I’m actually from Liverpool so quite a big change… I was in a bad school in a bad area of east London and honestly I was fine and I think London obviously like any big city has its dangers but in my experience it was quite villainised… but as a woman always be safe when out
