Getting a flip phone soon [UPDATE: it sucked]

I don't know, maybe I'm going through a midlife crisis (let's face it, the world will probably look like Mars anyway by the time I'm 60). But I've about had enough of my smartphone. I miss my old flip phone. I was looking to try to find an old refurbished Razr, but I've heard they don't last very long because it's been so long. I just want a nice little flip phone, though it would be pretty cool if they made a new slider phone, like the ones that slid out with a full QWERTY keyboard. And if they do, I hope to whichever higher power is listening that they make a purple one.

I'm planning to phase out my smartphone within two months. I know it's not a light decision. The whole world seems to be built around having one, but I just don't like that. I'm constantly on Facebook, I have every video at my fingertips on Youtube, and every marketing team is on my dick because Google and Facebook look at my searches and listen to my conversations. Everything is so fucking easy, all the fun is gone. I miss downloading music to listen to on my cheap little mp3 player, and meticulously making playlists. I had a flip phone back then. It was an LG and it was pretty good, except for that time that I turned it off and it never turned back on again. xD But I miss working for what I wanted, instead of just instantly getting it. I had a digital camera, and I would take all kinds of pictures and video, and I couldn't wait to get to my laptop to transfer all the pictures and organize them.

I guess I kinda want to have my flip phone, camera, and mp3 player back. I want to go back to when I wasn't worried about taking the perfect pictures, or posting random shit on facebook. And seriously, fuck Facebook. It used to be good, it really was. It was just a new MySpace, that's all it was, and now look at it.

I've gotta live my life in the physical world. It's been stuck in my smartphone for a few years now, and I'm pretty sure the serotonin receptors in my brain are shot by now because of it. Instant gratification is boring as fuck. Well, except for the instant gratification I received when I saw that SpaceHey was a real thing. And the main thing I noticed especially about this website was that I didn't feel addicted to it. Facebook is addicting. SpaceHey isn't like that for me. It's just nice having something new that reminds me of something old.

Wow, this did not stay a blog post about flip phones, did it? hahaha

alright so here is the thing, you can still find a new Flip Phone or a Burner Phone in old stockes as of mp3, you just need to search better or buy them online from Europe or China, i personally still use Burner Phones especially for my busnisses and to make calls privetly and it's easy to get dispose of in case something happend, also no data no location no traces simple as that. (even tho where i came from and in europe police can stop and investigate with you if you are holding a burner or flip phone) because it's mostly used for some type of businesses if you know you know.

and i agree with what you said in "I've gotta live my life in the physical world. It's been stuck in my smartphone for a few years now." and the fact that SpaceHey is not addicted even tho it's so much fun and comfortable to use.

and i personally still kinda of living the lifestyle of the 2000's and early 2010's, i don't use smartphones that much and i don't watch tv that much too, i think that it's up on us when it comes to the way of life that wew want to live, so it's just a matter of couraging and inspire yourself to live the way you want, from my opinion of course. Do you still living the way you like ?

alright, now tell us! did you get the flip phone, the camera and the mp3 ? hahaha

I felt the same way as you did/do for a long time. In fact, I still do. The only problem that I have is that since I make music I have to have some sort of presence in the digital world. Before then, I actually did not have any social media and it felt good. I found out how the majority of people rely on social media to keep up with their friends rather than giving them a phone call or just a quick text. It was weird, it still is :/

Yeah, it's really weird, I don't like to text people, especially my guy friends/acquaintances. I feel like it makes me look like I'm interested in pursuing a relationship with them outside of being friends. In fact, I think it even extends beyond that. When one of my facebook friends messages me, I immediately assume they are trying to peddle shitty makeup or recruit me to sell dildos, or they just broke up or divorced and I look cute enough to be their rebound. :eyeroll:

I wish it weren't like this, but I think modern social media has actually traumatized me so that I am not comfortable with intimately communicating with my friends/acquaintances. Because to me, texting and calling has become rather intimate, whereas communicating on social media provides a "protective" barrier in a way.

It makes sense. So much happens so fast through social media and the amount of bad stories along with bad experiences starts adding up. It is understandable for you to have that barrier and anxiety. I do believe that there are people out there without any hidden agendas but until you find out who they are it's best to play it safe. On topic but off topic, what happened with the flip phone? Will you write a blog of why it didn't work out? I am curious of what your experience was in 2022.

Long story short, they don't make flip phones like they used to, and if they do, it's definitely not in my price range. Calls were really quiet and there was a huge delay. If I ever get a dumbphone again, I'm hoping to try the AGM M6.

They do make new very durable flip phones without "smart" capabilities.
As for sliders... they do have some with a portrait keyboard, but it's always out, not a slider.
Now... the landscape mode keyboards... they're dead, but! you can buy slide-out Bluetooth keyboards that attach to a smartphone. -nod-

Yeah, I've seen those floating around. I'll have to wait until I get some disposable money before I grab one. I just feel like I got burned by the flip phone I got.

I've never owned a "dumb phone" ever in my life and the first smartphone I had was sometime in 2017. . .I deleted Facebook (for the 3rd time in my life) like a week or two ago along with Instagram, Reddit & Snapchat (they're addictive, bad for mental health & privacy, well manly FB & IG).

Oh wow. Yeah, I'm trying to get away from Facebook. I miss pre-Facebook years. Those were good years.

I can't get rid of Reddit though. It's too useful for me still.

Response to first comment reply:
I guess by "pre-Facebook" days, you're referring to OG MySpace? Yeah, I really miss those days as well (that's why I'm on here).

Response to second comment reply:

Well getting rid of one social media platform is better than nothing (I don't really have anything against Reddit, I'm just trying to reduce how many social media platforms I use).

First: Yes I mean OG myspace. It was a good time back then.

Second: I can understand that. I feel socialled out. So many fucking apps...
