If anyone follows my joint podcast, Hit The North with my good pal, Melissa Bowker (if not, please give us a follow on twitter/instagram @hitthenorthshow - cheers x) then you may remember my list of HTN recommendations on Spotify that I shared a week ago. One band in particular from that list which has grabbed my attention is Liverpool band, The Sonder.
Their most recent single is "Rollin' The Dice" which is a nice upbeat, foot-tapping bluesy tune layered with a gentle drum beat and a strong lead guitar. My favourite track of theirs is "Home." I just think this is a beautiful piece of music and would also work really well as an acoustic version too. It's not as energetic as the aforementioned single or their other songs but the country/folk sound really works and I love it. I feel like "Have Mine" has elements of very early B-Side Oasis, particularly with the riffs and the vocals in the chorus whilst other songs such as "When Life Comes Around" has comparable links to the likes of The Coral. Finally, "Beneath The Dust" is another song that captures the essence of a more folk/country genre but is a guaranteed crowd pleaser in a live setting.
My research on this band has led me to believe that since 2018, they have previously been featured on BBC Introducing as well as headlining venues across Liverpool. They are also scheduled to be on the support bill for Space at Grand Central Hall in Liverpool at the end of May. I believe that this band has a promising future and I look forward to seeing them live soon.
