I think that money *can* buy happyiess. My reason being would you be happy if you couldn't afford the things you like that make you happy? Would you be happy if your family was sick and you couldn't afford health insurance or medicine? Would you be happy if you, your family, or your friends couldn't afford things to eat? The lack of money can bring about many bad things. You most likely would be unhappy if the people you love and the people around you were suffering.

You're right, but only partly.
Those things you listed are basic needs in a social state. Sadly, those aren't affordable for everyone, what should not be.
"Money can't buy happiness" means something different. It means that you already have everything what you need to live (like food, a house, mobility, a health insurance, etc.), but you aren't happy in terms of having a fulfilled life. You cannot pay for love, you cannot pay for friends.
