NEVER Order Salads, Milkshakes, or a Side of Fruit at IHOP.

I used to serve at IHOP. I quit after not even lasting a full month there due to repetitive harassment, so now it's time to expose.

Never order their salads. The servers make the salads, but they don't wash their hands or wear gloves before grabbing fistfuls of lettuce and putting it in a bowl. Right before making the salad, they could've been handed a credit card from someone who coughed in their hands.

Never order their milkshakes. Because of how thick milkshakes are, the milkshake cups are barely washed even after going through the dishwasher. Everytime I had a customer order a milkshake, I would vigorously scrub a milkshake cup with soap and HOT water in the utility sink.

Now for the most unsanitary thing I've ever witnessed at IHOP... Never ask for a side of fruit. If you ask for a side of fruit at IHOP, the fruit is put in one of the small bowls that coffee creamers go in. Why is this unsanitary, you may ask? Those bowls don't get rewashed unless they have noticeable smudges of food on them. When bussing tables, I purposely smeared large smudges of food on those bowls just so they could get rewashed.

I've had people telling me, "Don't bring any of this up on social media. It could cost you so many jobs because your future employers could see that."

If you penalize me for this, I wouldn't want to work for you anyways since you prioritize your own greed over the health and well-being of other people. I don't play with anyone's health. If I wouldn't serve my grandparents fruit in an unwashed bowl, why would I serve it to someone else's grandparents? I treat everyone's grandparents how I treat mine. No customer should eat from an unwashed dish. Even if a customer is very rude to me, I would never stoop that low.

The good news is that there is nothing unsanitary about their pancakes. The milkshakes and sides of fruit are safe to eat if you ask for them in a to-go order, but DO NOT order their salads at all.
