some bands to start off with would be the cure, siouxsie and the banshees, bauhaus and the sisters of mercy. there are loads of subgenres under the goth umbrella so it depends on what you like. i also recommend faith and the muse, london after midnight and corpus delicti! :)

Post punk, darkwave, gothic rock and deathrock are goth music. The goth scene started in the early 1980s
Goth bands that i highly recommend are the cure, bauhaus, siouxsie and the banshees, Sisters of Mercy, joy division, and Clan of Xymox.
