New Music - The Reytons, May Seriously Harm You and Others Around You EP

I stumbled across this Yorkshire band a couple of months ago and I would strongly recommend that you give them a listen, especially if you're a fan of Arctic Monkeys and Courteeners. I've been unfortunate to miss out on a ticket to their Manchester Academy 2 gig as it's sold out as well as numerous locations up and down the country! If you're lucky enough to live in a location where the tickets are still going, grab one. Thankfully, they're on the Kendal Calling main stage so I will get to see them this year (*touch wood* back off COVID). They're also on the bill for the Tramlines main stage and if all of the above still hasn't convinced you to try these guys out then you're a lost cause.

Their EP, May Seriously Harm You and Others Around You was released in February of this year. So let's get stuck in.

The fiery Red Smoke which will undoubtedly get a crowd of fans chanting "here we, here we, here we fucking go!" before it kicks into the main body of the song. Full steam ahead and it doesn't stop there as we reach Behind Enemy Lines, a song with a delicious hook and then we reach my favourite Tears In The Taxi Rank. I love how real that song is - we've definitely seen a lot of that on nights out. I think there's some elements of Arctic Monkeys influence (whether that's intentional or not I don't know but it works) in Broke Boys Cartel with the catchy lyrics "Cause all the boys are on a bender, weekend offenders. All sorts of fun from unlicensed vendors" Jealous Type is again, another song that feels like it's drawn from real experiences that we can all relate to and it's fast paced and feisty. Lastly, we're taken down a few pegs to the slower Shoebox, a beautiful conclusion to a great EP.

I'm sure once the pandemic is over, there is nothing stopping this band and I look forward to seeing them in the fields at Kendal.
