Don't expect professionalism here, I decided to make this place more like a personal journal and here it is.
Now, to jump onto the topic.
I know many families are forced to eat together at dinner, so probably this doesn't apply to them. But personally, as someone who has stopped eating with her family together each and single dinner, I feel now that eating next to someone is a sign of trust.
Not only because you're next to this person letting them see how you eat and probably showing some "flaws" such as eating with your mouth open. (which srsly, gross but whatever, you do you) but it's also a reflection of your relationship with said person.
I'm saying this because I just realized today that I could eat with my mom and sister next to them, but for whatever reason I cannot bare to eat next to my dad or in general, be next to him. His voice triggers me too.
Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm overlooking at things and maybe this is just me having side effects of abuse and no therapy.

it doesnt sound like youre overreacting at least! it does feel like u have had some issues with ur dad that made u dislike his presence, which, fair! u cant always like everyone in ur life
Honestly, nowadays I have issues with every single member of my family, it's just that I haven't exposed myself enough them to publicly have a problem with everyone lol
