1. it's a soup because it has the same base components as soup. broth + the solid stuff in the broth. chicken noodle soup is chicken broth and the noodles and vegetables. cereal is the milk and cereal bits, sometimes fruit. same thing. 2. the argument 'but its cold' is completely invalid. soup can be eaten cold. yes it's often served hot, but it's still soup. cereal can be served hot too. is it often served cold though? yes.
