Wicca Religion Explained by an idiot, part I-Afterlife

I think the best place to start is the afterlife, since it's one of the first things I had to learn in Christianity. (wow, how the tables turned when I got older)

Belief in the afterlife varies between Wiccans and doesn't actually take center stage in this religion. It is common belief that Wiccans believe that everyone has a soul. Feri Wicca, for instance, having adopted a belief from Hawaiian religion that the human being has three souls. Although not accepted by all Wiccans, a belief in reincarnation is the dominant afterlife belief within Wicca. Understandings of how the cycle of reincarnation operates differ among practitioners; the prominent Wiccan Raymond Buckland for instance insisted that human souls would only incarnate into human bodies, whereas other Wiccans believe that a human soul can incarnate into any life form. The view that the human soul rested for a period between bodily death and its incarnation, with this resting place commonly being referred to as "The Summerland" among the Wiccan community.

This allows many Wiccans to believe that mediums can contact the spirits of the deceased, a belief adopted from Spiritualism. Now this is one of my favorite things that they do, because not only do most Wiccans contact the dead, they do it in a very safe way- practicing to make sure that they know what they are talking to and how to end the connection. In fact many Wiccans keep spirits around for help and guidance.
