Kajillionaire - a movie recommendation

Copy pasted Plot - A woman's life is turned upside down when her criminal parents invite an outsider to join them on a major heist they're planning.

[this movie is called Kajillionaire It’s on HBO Max]

I won’t say everything that happens but this is mostly just to talk about why I love this movie so much

So This main character is named Old Dolio her parents named her after an old man thinking if he won the lottery They would get some of the cash 

This is an note of Old Dolio’s relationship with her parents and the environment that they are in together 

In the beginning of the movie you see Old Dolio and her parents do some scams to get quick cash always looking for a little bit and find out that they live in an apartment where they have to clean bubbles that seep out of the walls because they clean the bubbles they give to love there for cheaper 

We also see Old Dolio try to sell a massage coupon back to the massager the massage therapist says that they don’t do that but they could give Old Dolio the massage anyway and Old Dolio reluctantly agrees 

This is an important scene because Old Dolio reacts to being massaged like it’s the first time she’s been touched this foreshadowing to the Journey that Old Dolio is about to go one one that’s about The strictly business relationship she seems to have with their parents even tho it’s her parents 

Every single thing in the first part comes back up later with a huge payoff which is why I love it so much Old Dolio begins to think she could’ve had a closer relationship with her parents that she hasn’t ever received

Let’s skip ahead to Melanie she meets The parents on a plane (the plane is apart of the scam the family came up with) The parents get along with Melanie and tell her about their scam and Melanie wants to team up and do another Scam with the parents 

Old Dolio feels off about Melanie and is stand offish at first

(Don’t worry it’s Gay) Anyway we’ll do another time skip

Old Delio hears her parents call Melanie Hon and gets offended because she’s never been called a pet name before 

Old Dolio confronts her parents asking her mother to call her Hon Old dolio says she’ll give her mom  half of the money they got from a scam to call her hon and 

the mom can’t utter a word

The mom try’s to make fun of old Dolio saying

 “We don’t call you hon or sweetheart or baby, we don’t wrap up little birthday presents with ribbons, make pancake, or do a little dance… yes you want that, you want us to be false fakey people” 

-the mom and dad clearly associate parental love with being fake- 

Old Dolios heart is being broken But Melanie Steps in she says “I will I’ll call you Hon for the money” she grabs old Dolios hand and they run out together  

When they are alone together Melanie Dosent just call old Dolio Hon but she insist on doing all of the things that the mom said (Kinda Gay tbh) 

-okay I’m going to skip a lot here but basically Old Dolio has been bonding with Melanie but hasn’t seen her parents since that night and the parents ask Old Dolio to a Dinner Assumingly it’s for them to say sorry to their child-

 (remember what I said about things coming back)

Now in the beginning half of the movie Old dolio is given a toothpick by a Radom man she tells her mom about it “it means you gave him wood” - Mom 

Old Dolio is understandably grossed out 

At the dinner 

OLD DOLIO GIVES A TOOTH PICK TO MELANIE 

(*^ω^*) ugh my lesbian heart Anyway 

The parents say sorry and come to old Dolios house 

(I’m about to spoil the ending so if you like what you’ve read so far you should watch the movie) 

After they leave Old dolio and Melanie talk about the cash they still have from the scam 

“If the money is gone then their monsters in this whole night was a lie” - Mel 

“But if it’s there then this is all real ” - Dolio

“Wait if it’s just my third of the cash, 525 then that means we can only ever be how we are but we love you and we wish you well” - Dolio

 Mel opens it and all the cash is still there the next morning they wake up 

Melanie’s entire apartment was robbed even the money except the gifts that old dolios parents gave them to “say sorry” This breaks her heart

“So what?” - Mel 

They both laugh together and there’s a long scene of them realizing they like each other and MEL KISSS OLD DOLIO ON TEH CHEEK 

Anyway They decided to sell all the gifts to have some cash to last and you see a shot of Melanie and old in the store Watching the cash go up as they’re selling back to items

The total is $525 dollars Old Dolios Third of the cash

The two look at eachother happy at at least that 

And kiss~ 

Oh my god this movie is so good please watch it I left a lot out and reading this blog is nowhere near to the experience of watching it
