its like a light brown snake slithering over your light brown carpet. it blends in and if you dont catch it fast you'll lose it. then it'll stay in your house, slithering right past you and cuddled under the couch. the snake gets faster and cleverer as it feeds on your frustration. sometimes you'll forget the snake is even there, until you step on it. not hard though, since as soon as you feel it you recoil faster that it does. snake slithers off and you find yourself saying sorry and feeling bad. any rational person would do whatever it took to get that snake out, willingly stomping on it. the snake is light brown and small enough to not feel dangerous, so you really feel no urgency to remove it. you forget about the snake til you find it's shit on your shitty carpet. you forget about it until someone else is over and sees the carpet moving at them. you forget about the snake until it bites you, the fire in your veins telling you how reckless you were. then one day the snake forgets about you.

I see the snake as our vices. We let them live and grow within us, but they will come with the heat of our anger to consume us, and our lives are a constant battle to keep them in check. As such it would be impossible to live a healthy life without confronting the snake in our lives, yet we refuse to confront it for fear of the repercussions.
If the snake is a metaphor then the solution is to stop the vices and expose them before they strike. We may feel shame at our own weakness in not confronting the vices but if we can confront them openly, with honesty and without blame, then they will cease to live within us.
The question is not whether to expose them but how. How can we face our snake and become healthy? If we are not aware of our vices then we will be unable to face them. We cannot overcome our weaknesses without embracing them and exposing them, thus we must confront them. Look inward and recognize your personal weaknesses before they strike. Do not fear the dark because the darkness is always an opportunity to face ourselves, the snake, and be healthier. If we are honest with ourselves and not afraid of admitting the darkness within us, then we will discover our vices and expose them, thus we will become stronger. Once we have faced the snake and identified ourselves with our weaknesses then we are free to take control of our lives and live with integrity and authenticity, then we can embrace the light, love and grace that comes from living in the world without fear or self-loathing.
thanks for sharing your thoughts about this, i really value and love it :)
