A cold and dry night is just that to some
But, the stars in the cloudless sky create an atmosphere like no other
The moon gives a glow as if its a dim lamp
Only those who walk alone through the empty streets can know the true beauty of my lonesome nights
Layered coats to delay the frigid temperatures
Gloves that never keep you warn
A long road with no true destination
It’s no lie that I’m fearful of the unknown
The hours reaching morning
The anxiety of a parent’s phone call or text
But the morning light spills over the trees
A sunrise signaling new hopeful days
The frost covered grass to some may look like snow
Doors closing and shoes stomping, kids shouting as the time ticks to seven
A steady retreat, quietly back home
The lights in the house now on as my siblings wake too
A gust of warmth and a simple hello
The smell of coffee dances in the air
Ready for a day full of mello
I fall onto the couch and close my eyes
