Make Minecraft a horror game again

Minecraft is a good horror game, really. For me, playing MC as a kid was nice until it came time to start mining. Tight caves, danger, zombies, and creepers, spooky sounds, legends about Herobrine. It was too much for me xD

After some time, I got used to dealing with monsters in caves. It became a normal thing for me. I even started to miss this atmosphere of fear. So recently I downloaded mods, many mods. I really made Minecraft creepy! I did that by improving graphic and sound quality as well as adding a new, mysterious content to a game. To be honest, this "tutorial" is awful, but my goal is to show you the monster I created and share with you my feelings with playing in that way. I'm just getting to know these mods. I want to surprise myself with these new things, so forgive me for the clunky descriptions :b

I've discovered many mods from AsianHalfSquat's youtube channel.
The game is much more difficult, so I recommend turning on KeepInventory gamerule to avoid frustration.
/gamerule keepInventory true

This's my list of mods and add-ons (1.16.5v):
Optifine + Sildurs Shaders + vanilla settings
I don't have a powerful PC. My machine is just a budget laptop. But with proper configurations I'm able to play MC with stable 30 FPS. Shaders aren't necessary but are good for immersion. Yes, immersion is the key! :b Sildur's Shaders are the best for potato PCs.
I changed the brightness of the game to 10%. Darkness in caves is far more dangerous now.

Better Caves and Dynamic Surroundings
We need bigger, more dangerous caves to explore. Unfortunately, I couldn't install my favorite mods in the Cave&Cliffs update, so I'm using this mod. Bigger areas are much harder to secure with torches so monsters can easily surprise you. You need to watch out! xP

Dynamic Surroundings is one of my favorite modifications ever! This one is improving the game with new, better sounds. It also adds many particle effects to MC, but these are easy to disable in the options. The most important are the reverbs in caves. Muffled zombie growling awakens the tension! It's a powerful immersion boost!! :D

Improved Mobs
This one is SCARY. SCARY AS HELL. This mod adds a difficulty counter and makes all of the monsters UNPREDICTABLE. It's a gamechanger here :D You want to fight monsters in caves, but what if you are unsure what they can do to you? Look at this creeper below. He SUDDENLY STARTED THROWING TNTs ON ME! Monsters can summon a variety of "mounts" to shorten the distance between them and us. Zombie groans in deep abyss at you? He'll definitely fly to you with the help of a summoned PARROT. Creeper stuck in water can LAUNCH himself with Sea Guardian. Zombies can pour a bucket of lava on you. Endermans are oddly pissed off :b Not nice :<

Parrots are evil now buhaha!

Camera Overhaul
Another awesome immersion boost, just look at these moves!! :D

Modifications with new content:
In choosing content mods for my modpack, my goal is to surprise myself. These mods add many dangerous things that I'm unaware of xDD. My first "heart attack" (not really xd) was when a diamond armored skeleton started chasing me in cave entrance xdd I discovered many random monster spawners in caves and dungeons. The game is much more interesting with fun treasures waiting to be discovered.

Apotheosis
Magic in Minecraft. I don't know what this really adds. Perhaps new dungeons and dangerous shit in caves as well xP
Artifacts
Interesting artifacts. There is a farting pillow to place on the head 10/10 mod xD
Explorercraft
Many new things. Also a bit of new ores.
Valhelsia Structures
idk new structures perhaps xd
Better Mineshafts
As the name says, I haven't researched mineshafts yet.
Grapple Mod
Better mobility with grapple hooks in your EQ! But you need to master them cuz you can make yourself hurt :/
Mowzie's Mobs
Adds some rare creatures to MC.
Traveller Backpack
If the game adds new content, it is worth having a place to accommodate all new things. Traveller Backpack is good and is compatible with Apotheosis.
Better Weather
Changes weather system in the game but all i saw were random lightning bolts. Maybe shaders spoils me this mod idk

My other mods.
Biomes o Plenty - beautiful new world generator.
Just Enough Items - shows all crafting instructions, useful thing :b
Placeable Items - placing vanilla items as a blocks, nice for decorating
Tree Chop - realistic way to chop trees, vanilla system is awful
Waystones - teleporters in villages
What's That Slot - shows  what modification the item is.
Chunk Animator - chunks are loaded in fancy way
AI Improvement - less laggy mobs, it boosts FPS a little
Clumps - it combines XP bubbles into a big one. Also an FPS boost

I think I'll add new modifications soon.
Tell me what you think of this! If you want my modpack, let me know in the comment.

This is an awesome writeup and a great idea for a modpack! I'll be trying this out some time soon because a lot of the additions seem cool!

Interesting note - I find that Sildur's bloom options are a little strong by default. There are a few good "vanilla+" shaders that work wonders with making everywhere naturally darker while amplifying the effect of torches and water reflections without clashing with the style of minecraft too bad. Still, Sildurs is super solid!

thank you! these modifications add many surprises without overwhelming the player with new content. i'll post a link at the bottom of the post.

i tested Vanilla+ for a while and yup, it's a great shader for players who don't really like these strong changes. i think i'll install it :b
