I've been here a year now

It is so great to see people thriving on here.

I was hugely into the original myspace, to the level of planning out meeting up with strangers as a teen (we outsmarted them by showing up as a group lol) and following "fashion blogs" that turned out to be, like, eastern european lingerie stores.

It's funny how much less safe the internet is, now, but the danger has changed; people are less likely to get catfished and kidnapped, but mental health is plummetting because of the instant dopamine culture. Coming to a place like Spacehey, we have all this knowledge that we gained as a society in the past 15 years on how to stay physically safe online, but we get to unlock the creativity (like learning CSS!!!) that we didn't really have access to on non-modifiable sites like facebook and twitter.

So much of those other sites involve interacting in a way that will make people like us, garner positive responses, reinforce belief systems or share outrage or passion with a huge group of people who are all feeling the same things. Here, making a page is a totally personal choice whether you code it or you pick out the perfect premade for you, and all the decorations are things every single person decides represents them as a person, rather than just reshares of whatever is trending.

Spacehey a beautiful place, maybe more beautiful than Myspace ever was because of the people working so passionately to make it wonderful; and I'm so glad a new generation of users have access to it.
