im going to format this in a list of numbered problems i have with this story.
#1- Romeo is 17 and Juliet is 13? ik this was written a long time ago and it didnt matter then but i think we should stop romanticising it because thats almost a pedophillic relationship and feels GROSS!
#2- they literally dont know each other at all, they are not in love. the only conversations theyve had is "ooh youre hot, im gonna kiss you" and "omg youre so sexy bae ahaha ily i wish we could be together foreversies". the only thing they talk about is how much they love each other which really means how much theyre physically attracted to each other because they dont fucking talk about anything except how theyre supposedly in love ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ i fucking hate romeo and juliet so much
#3- HE KILLS HIMSELF ??? OVER NOTHING ??? i understand that he THOUGHT she was dead and was upset by it bc he thought she was hot but like... couldnt he have done some test to make sure she was dead? or ask someone? or NOT KILL YOURSELF AND JUST BE SAD FOR A WHILE BRUHHH 💀ðŸ˜ðŸ’€
#4- this takes place in a week. and in LESS THAN ONE DAY they say theyre in love and want to get married???nuh uh. that is a divorce WAITING to happen. but bro imagine kysing over someone you met >7 days ago 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 skull emoji skull emoji skull emoji THATS embarrasing

It isn't supposed to be a romance, it's supposed to be a tragedy: their families let their multi-generational blood feud get so out of hand that their kids felt so trapped they killed themselves.
When Shakespeare called them "star crossed lovers" it wasn't supposed to mean their relationship was fighting against the odds or some other load of crap, he meant that things between the two families were so out of hand that this outcome had become inevitable. In order for the fighting to stop, two innocent people had to die. Their relationship isn't supposed to be good, it's supposed to be a bad teenage romance doomed to fail after like a month which is why it's so tragic. They're just kids and they're so fucked up from watching a cycle of killing between their families that when they end up in the middle of it the only option they see is to kill themselves before someone else can.
The friar disregards the danger to them and marries them because he thinks it will make the fighting stop. Juliet's family wants to marry her out to strengthen their political position. Romeo's family sees him being exiled as an acceptable loss in their feud. At every step, the people around them failed them because they were willing to use literal children as pawns to further their goals for a pointless fight that had been going on so long no one even remembered what it was about. It isn't a story about romance, it's a story about the futility and tragedy inherent to an endless cycle of violence.
