what's the deal with letterman?

i've always heard "letterman this" and "letterman that", but i've never known why he is so important -or was to the comedy world

so i just started to watch some clips of his 80s show on youtube and, gotta say: at first i didn't think i was going to like him cuz, you know, comedy tends to be generational or whatever, but i think he's pretty funny

i can see in his comedy the seeds that later comedians would sprout and, then on, bloom

here letterman goes into nyc and asks costumers if the coffee they're drinking is the world's finest, because the stores put up that sign and so, and idk, i just think of colbert and eric andré

gonna keep on watching more from this guy
