1-

The beginning

Feet walking in pairs

From the revolving doors to the front desks

Of a night

The hair of a first man falls over his face

Bending down to pick up the stack of papers

Never

Hotel ready feet that walked from the revolving doors

Step to one man’s paper

Truly ends

The leather shoe of a second man creases

The eyes of a first man follow through strands

Until

“Ah, I need to be more careful with things like this”

Ink letters formed on each sheet of paper

One parts

“It’s alright. Now I notice this flooring matches my shoes”

A second man, responds

Both rise without another word

No longer walking to the front desk

Only to separate rooms

A first and second man fail to realize

The sheets of paper that blew through the revolving doors

The ink imprinted on the sole of a shoe

2-

i point out the water on the lake had frozen over

i watch as you throw snow across it like a skipping stone

you point out the ice starting to break

in the time i focused

to make my snowball perfect to throw

i failed to focus on you
