There exist a mystery beyond words that lies secretly hidden in the Himalayan mountains. And so it is said to be located within the highest of snowy peaks. As you climb and venture in your journey, the image of this unfocused place lingers in your mind and in your heart. Your trek takes your breath away, not only because of its highth, but because of its beauty; while the cold of each step freezes the bones.
Tired and cold you continue onward on your trek. Through thick and thin, wind and rain and cold and snow. Suddenly, in the midst of it all, an opening is seen in the mountain wall. Helpless and shivering, you venture in seeking shelter. Only to find to your surprise an old monk robed in red.
He utters not a word. A simple bow with the turn of the body. Deeper and deeper into the cave we go. To ultimately and in due time, emerge on the other side. Yes, a scene to behold. A glimpse of light and of hope opens up upon a great city of gold and many to gather in a greeting of brotherly love.
The old monk speaks not a word, instead with open arms greets me to a heavenly place of no pain, no sickness and not even the passing of time and the growing of old. Only of smiles and fortune at every turn.
This is Shang-La. A mystical place. A make believe place or even a real place, created in the minds of our own true reality. Thus, seek not to find her in any mountainous snowy peaks, but rather, in the heart of every human being.
