welcome back to another monthly yap sesh, where i recap the last 30 days of my life because apparently my life has become a teen drama with a questionable writing team.

october, you were a LOT. like genuinely, who approved this storyline??? 😭

we had crush drama, homecoming, halloween disasters, stranger things brainrot, and enough plot twists to fill an entire season of television.

so grab your emotional support beverage, get comfy, and let's discuss the absolute CINEMA that was october. 🍿

💌 01. life lately: SOMEONE TAKE MY PHONE AWAY

sooooo. apparently october decided i needed a romantic subplot. 💋

there's this girl i've kinda had a thing for, and i eventually decided to shoot my shot.

WAS THIS A GOOD IDEA? remains debatable.

the night before, i texted her:

"hey how would you ask out your crush"

and she told me to ask for her number.

THE PROBLEM????

SHE ALREADY HAD MINE.

GIRL. WE HAVE LITERALLY TEXTED BEFORE. 💀

BUT ANYWAY. the next day, i walked up to her and said:

"hey whats your number"

PLEASE. I KNOW. I KNOWWWWW.

obviously, she looked confused because she ALREADY HAD MY NUMBER. so i had to pull up our texts from the night before to explain what i was actually trying to tell her.

AND THEN IT GOT WORSE.

because it took her approximately FIVE WHOLE MINUTES to figure out what i was telling her.

FIVE. MINUTES.

meanwhile, Rylee was there witnessing the entire thing like she was filming a nature documentary about a girl slowly losing her dignity. 😭

eventually, i could not handle the awkwardness anymore, so i RAN DOWN THE HALLWAY WITH RYLEE.

AND WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED AND TURNED AROUND TO LOOK AT HER???

SHE WAS RUNNING DOWN THE HALLWAY TOWARD ME.

SHE WAS CHASING ME BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO KEEP TALKING.

EXCUSE ME?????

WHY ARE WE RUNNING????? WHO STARTED THE TRACK MEET????? IS THIS A ROM-COM OR AM I BEING PURSUED BY MY OWN EMBARRASSMENT????? 🏃‍♀️💀

AND THEN, AFTER ALL OF THAT, SHE TOLD ME:

"i just asked out my crush and she said yes."

OH.

OH, SO WE'RE DOING THIS TODAY. 😭😭😭

to clarify: she was talking about HER OWN crush. HER crush had said yes to HER. she was not saying yes to me.

so basically, i had just worked up the courage to ask out a girl who had already asked out HER crush, and HER crush had SAID YES.

THE TIMING. THE IRONY. THE ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL LACK OF COORDINATION FROM THE UNIVERSE.

and Rylee witnessed ALL OF IT.

i would like to thank my legs for carrying me down that hallway, my phone for preserving the text receipts, and the universe for giving me a story that will haunt me for the foreseeable future.

did i get the girl? no.

did i get a dramatic hallway chase? YES.

did i get character development? unfortunately. 😭

💃 02. HOMECOMING: THE NIGHT HAD EVERYTHING

OKAYYYYY. HOMECOMING.

this was genuinely one of the highlights of october because even though there was some romantic embarrassment involved, the night itself was SO MUCH FUN. ✨

first of all, getting ready at Mary's house was such a cute idea. everyone was together doing hair and makeup, taking pictures, and getting excited for the dance.

THE GIRLHOOD. THE GLAMOUR. THE PRE-DANCE CHAOS. 💄🎀

and then we made a GIANT CANDY SALAD.

yes. a giant candy salad. because apparently regular snacks were not enough for this group.

after getting ready, we went to a classmate's house to take pictures, which made everything feel so official. like hello???? we're actually doing high school things???? 😭

AND THEN CAME THE DANCE.

now, i did attempt to have a little romantic moment of my own.

i asked Carson to slow dance with me.

his response?

"ehhhhh no"

I'M SORRY????? 😭💀

THE WAY I PUT MYSELF OUT THERE JUST TO GET AN "EHHHHHH NO."

AND THE FUNNIEST PART??? CARSON IS KENDALL'S BROTHER.

YES. THE SAME KENDALL FROM THE HALLWAY INCIDENT.

APPARENTLY OCTOBER DECIDED MY ROMANTIC LIFE NEEDED A FAMILY CONNECTION FOR THE PLOT. 😭

so in one part of my life, i'm trying to shoot my shot with Kendall, and in another part, i'm getting rejected by HER BROTHER at homecoming.

THE LORE IS LORING.

meanwhile, my best friend was dancing with the boy of her dreams, so at least SOMEONE'S romantic storyline was progressing according to plan.

but honestly, even with the rejection, i still had such a good time. the music, the pictures, being with my friends, and getting to experience my first homecoming dance made it memorable.

and the night wasn't even over yet.

AFTER THE DANCE, we went to an afterparty with a BONFIRE AND MOZZARELLA STICKS.

MOZZARELLA STICKS.

i fear this is the true definition of a successful evening. 🔥🧀

so yes, my romantic life was questionable, but the overall homecoming experience? ICONIC.

🎃 03. the halloween plot twist nobody ordered

if october had one job, it was to let me have a normal halloween.

DID IT DO THAT???

absolutely not.

the original plan was trick-or-treating and a halloween sleepover with my friends. we had costumes planned. we had the vision. we had the vibes.

i was going to be ELEVEN from Stranger Things — specifically the iconic mall romper era — and Rylee was going to be Max.

THE VISION WAS VISIONING. 🧇🛼

and then the group chat got hit with the equivalent of a meteor.

Rylee canceled the halloween sleepover because she was going to Ava's party instead.

her message was literally:

"we’re going to have to cancel the Halloween sleepover, i’m going to delete this gc"

GIRL????? THE GROUP CHAT DIDN'T EVEN GET A PROPER GOODBYE. 😭💀

one minute we had OPERATION HALLOWEEN. the next minute the entire operation was being shut down by management.

and then there was the question of what Anna and i were supposed to do. Anna wasn't really feeling the idea of going to Ava's party, and honestly, i wasn't exactly thrilled about it either because Ava and i aren't super close.

suddenly, our original plans were gone, and we were trying to figure out a backup plan while the halloween clock was ticking.

meanwhile, my parents still had to approve me going out because, technically, i was still grounded.

WHICH MEANT I HAD TO SPEND TWO HOURS MAKING A SLIDESHOW TO CONVINCE THEM TO LET ME GO.

TWO. HOURS.

i was out here creating a whole business proposal for trick-or-treating. the candy industry was about to get a new CEO. 🍬📊

at this point, my parents are the board of directors, i'm the desperate employee pitching a new project, and halloween is the company budget.

will the proposal be approved? will the CEO be released into the streets? will the candy profits be worth the emotional labor?

THE CORPORATE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW.

UPDATE: i'm going to Ava's party.

the plot has officially shifted, and we're rolling with it. the original sleepover plans may have been canceled, but halloween is not canceled on MY watch. 🎃

whether this becomes a surprisingly fun night or another story for the monthly yap sesh remains to be seen.

🏆 04. people of the month

<3 Rylee — witness to the Kendall hallway incident AND one of the main characters in the Halloween plot twist. she has seen things that cannot be unseen.

<3 Anna — fellow Halloween planner who got caught up in the last-minute chaos. we were fighting for our lives trying to figure out a backup plan.

<3 Kendall — the girl from the hallway incident. the source of the five-minute misunderstanding. the reason i apparently became a track athlete. 😭

<3 Carson — Kendall's brother. also the boy who rejected my slow dance request at homecoming. apparently my October lore needed a family connection. 💀

the supporting cast of my life deserves awards. preferably ones that come with therapy money.

🎧 05. current obsessions

olivia rodrigo 🎤

because sometimes you need music that makes you feel like the main character in a coming-of-age movie, even if your actual life is a compilation of embarrassing moments.

her music is basically the soundtrack to my internal monologue at this point.

stranger things 🧇

i am officially in my Stranger Things era.

the characters, the outfits, the drama, the nostalgia. ELEVEN HAS TAKEN OVER MY BRAIN.

at this point, if someone mentions waffles, i will probably start thinking about Hawkins.

and yes, the Eleven costume was absolutely part of the plan. the fact that the original Halloween plan got canceled does NOT mean the vision was bad. the vision was excellent. the management was questionable. 😭

💀 06. funniest moments of october

#1 — asking Kendall for her number when she already had mine.

i would like to formally apologize to my own brain for abandoning it during a critical moment.

#2 — THE HALLWAY CHASE.

i ran away from the awkwardness, and SHE RAN AFTER ME TO KEEP TALKING.

if this were a movie, the soundtrack would have been playing at full volume while i experienced every emotion known to humanity.

#3 — Carson rejecting my slow dance request.

"ehhhhh no" will unfortunately be remembered for the foreseeable future. 💀

#4 — the Halloween group chat getting deleted from existence.

we went from planning costumes and sleepovers to canceling the entire operation.

the writers were feeling ruthless this month.

#5 — spending two hours making a slideshow to convince my parents to let me go trick-or-treating.

i have never worked harder on a presentation with such a low candy-related budget.

🩷 07. little things i loved

getting ready for homecoming at Mary's house. 💄✨

honestly, that was one of my favorite parts of the month.

everyone getting ready together, doing hair and makeup, taking pictures, and just having those little moments before the actual dance.

we even made a GIANT CANDY SALAD, which was iconic behavior.

even though homecoming had its own little romantic rejection subplot, the night was still so much fun. the afterparty had a bonfire and mozzarella sticks, so honestly, we were winning in other categories.

sometimes the best parts of a night are the moments you didn't plan.

and honestly, getting to experience those little high school memories with my friends is something i'm really glad i got to do. 🥹💗

🔮 08. november predictions

things i would like to manifest for next month:

🎂 MY 15TH BIRTHDAY.

HELLO???? FIFTEEN???? i'm planning an escape room and then hopefully a chill hangout or sleepover. pink and gold might be the aesthetic. 🎀✨

🚗 GETTING MY LEARNER'S PERMIT.

potentially entering my driving era. please keep the roads in your thoughts and prayers.

💌 LESS EMBARRASSMENT.

i am not saying no more crushes, but perhaps we could try having one conversation without an entire hallway becoming involved.

🎃 A MORE NORMAL MONTH.

i would like at least thirty days without a plot twist that requires a group chat debrief.

✨ MORE MEMORIES WITH MY FRIENDS.

more random adventures, more laughing until we can't breathe, more pictures, and more little moments that become stories later.

october was chaotic, awkward, exciting, and honestly kind of iconic.

i got to make memories with my friends, have a really fun homecoming, attempt to shoot my shot, and learn that sometimes life is just one giant blooper reel.

did everything go according to plan? no.

did i survive? yes.

will i continue to yap about it on the internet? ABSOLUTELY.
