I had ran into the trailer for this new installment of the Avatar series during the time SDCC 2026 was happening since I'm always snooping around online to see what's going on at conventions. Surprisingly at first watch, I did not think too much of it but was just excited to see we would be getting new Avatar content (other than the Avatar Aang movie that got leaked in April).
As of writing this, episodes 7, 8, and 9 have released on Friday, October 23, 2026 and each episode so far always has me wondering what will happen next. I honestly forgot about this show releasing not until I saw screenshots of the first three episodes on twitter.
It makes me quite sad to see there is a good majority of people who actually do not like seven havens and constantly compare it to atla, which is exactly what happened to tlok. I definitely understand the complaints regarding the animation, in comparison to atla/tlok where the bending animation looks more fluid although I feel like the animation was really good in the most recent 3 episodes.
Regardless of some negativity people have towards the new show, I personally am really loving it so far and I'm so happy I get to experience it alongside everyone else. Both atla and tlok released during my childhood, although I never properly watched them as a kid (probably because I was watching ohshc and hetalia at a young age LMAO). Thankfully I watched both shows probably around 2022-2023 I think?
The concept of the avatar being two twins is so interesting to me, and the way the main characters Pavi, Nisha, and Jae are written so far is keeping me curious as to how they will be fleshed out throughout the show. What I enjoy seeing in all three shows is probably the found family trope also (which yeah gets me every time unfortunately). The way Jae is practically their dad is so funny too (alongside Daemin but I hope bro gets a proper moment with the twins lolol).

It's always going to be unfair comparing any team avatar after atla to the gaang because the gaang just had that charm to them, and I feel nostalgia is clouding proper judgement of each group. We can't just expect every group to be exactly the same as atla, because what would be the point of having new stories then? Also comparing seven havens right now to the past two shows is unfair considering we don't have much to build off of. A comparison I would make is when persona fans compare the phantom thieves, investigation team, and S.E.E.S. to each other. All the groups are completely different and even if they may share some similar tropes, they all face completely different challenges due to their circumstances.

Watching seven havens makes me wish I could have properly enjoyed atla and tlok during the time they were actually airing, but I think that's probably part of the reason why I'm so engrossed with it right now. It's such a blessing that I can properly understand what is happening in the show, and being able to read all the theories and seeing so much fan content fills me with joy. I'm really excited to see where the story takes us! And if you haven't watched Avatar: Seven Havens yet, I would highly recommend it!
