It's literally modern goth and I think that's why most people cant help but be absolutely obsessed with it (including me). It's a horror romance with gothic theme. Hannibal and Will literally the best and the worst thing ever happened to each other. I don't get why people try so hard to water their relationship down by saying "oh hannibal is just manipulating and will is scared of hannibal". It's straight up dumb af. I think people who don't admit Hannibal & Will are in love are straight up homophobic people because wdym... It's literally canon..

agreed, i think this is a correct take. gothic romance is supposed to be a little fucked up and though i don't think nbc hannibal fully counts as gothic because it departs a bit from the genre (like it doesn't really have an oppressive setting) it could definitely be read as one
