Had an appointment linked to my job search, first true realization that I had somewhat ignored but has been made clearer regarding the state of France: under capitalism, you have no worth if you are not working. Regardless of the reason, if you are not working, you are the scum of capitalist society. Even moreso if you are also holding back from buying. Seeing ads everywhere I look makes me so upset. Profit profit profit, that's all capitalism is about.
But that wasn't exactly what I realized. I was thinking of school programs and Montessori style education and why wouldn't it be a societal goal. I know why. Because it disfavours capitalism. It makes people think, it makes them question. The schools we have now are just factories to mold students into good little workers, so as soon as you want to change the curriculum to put students first, it becomes too dangerous for capitalism. Students will learn that they have worth outside of their performance and that is a threat to the idea of self-worth being tied to work performance. If students start to disregard the importance of tests, how can capitalism keep a hold on them once they're in the job market? It's so much easier to control someone who believes their worth is tied to their work performance.
That's really all there is to this small blog entry. I wanted to keep a trace of that. I guess I knew this unconsciously and I just never really took conscience of it. Now I did.
Of course, capitalism also hates schools because historically, it threatened the hold on workers. That's why we had to fight for our rights to education. Without knowledge, we are at the mercy of those who run corporations and who govern us.

This was a good read, spot on !
Unfortunately I often forget that many people still measure their worth--and the worth of others--with their productivity and ability to make money. It's so surreal when you yourself have already woken up to the ways in which capitalism produces a cycle of non-stop worker exploitation in favor of nothing but profit, only to look at those around you and realize that they have truly not noticed how exploited and propagandized they are.
I think many people haven't been properly motivated to dissect and deconstruct the ways we are told to think behave and how our society actually functions. And it saddens me to see that many people don't see nearly enough of the flaws in their way of life.
Exactly, it saddens me especially when it comes from neurodivergent people who already have a hard enough time feeling inadequate because they can't conform to those standards. And then some of them still force themselves & others back into that standard, just slightly altered to make room for their neurodivergence....
