Report Blog Entry
Suppp! In this blog I'm gonna be sharing my retro tech collection that I accidentally started. I've always liked the way technology used to look in the 90s and the 2000s. At some point I wanted a way to watch movies because my phone and laptop used to get taken away in the evening/night. And I also thought It would be fun to kind of build a personal collection. So I started collecting DVD's and got a portable DVD player.Β Around the same time, I think it was in the summer of 2024, I started collecting CD's, so I got a discman too. And the same thing happened with the other items on this list. Before I knew it I lowkey built a collection. There's more coming tho! I'm looking at PSP's, old Panasonic TV's and digital camera's right now so hopefully I'll be adding those to my collecting soon!!
This kind of started my obsession with older technology. When I first started collecting CD's, I wanted something to play them on outside of my house and I was also just obsessed with the way that a discman looks. So naturally I bought one. It still works but it's not in the best condition and skips as you walk lol.
Got these from Vinted! I think they look so cool I always wanted headphones like these and then I came across them on Vinted. Even though I still prefer wired earphones, I like using this one whenever it matches my outfit or hairstyle.
I fucking LOVE this thing I can NOT live without it. I take it with me anywhere I go. I remember when I was looking for a new mp3 I knew I wanted this specific model. I initially wanted to get one in red but this one was very cheap and in great condition so I bought it anyway and honestly I'm so glad I did because I love the lime color! This is not just one of my favorite items on this list but genuinely one of my favorite items that I own.
I got a second discman when the condition of my first one started to get worse. This is the one I am currently using. I bring it with me all the time. It came in very handy when phones got banned in school before I got my mp3 player, but it's also just nice to go out and still be able to play CD's.
I wanted to get a flip phone sooo bad so I bought it, again, on Vinted. It's aΒ SGH-E300 to be specific.Β It actually still works perfectly but you can't do much with it tho. It obviously doesn't work on 4g and I also can't find a cable that can connect it to my laptop so I can't transfer the pics I take on it. When I just got it I wanted to use it so bad that I played chess on it. I don't even know how to play chess . I still wanna get one of those more modern flip phones that actually work because all I really need on my phone is WhatsApp and calling ofc.
I've always been TERRIBLE at waking up early but ever since I got this alarm clock I can easily get up. I got it as a replacement for my phone because I'm trying to use my phone as little as possible. And also for aesthetic purposes of course cause let's be for real old tech looks so much cooler.Β Another one of my favorites on this list!
This is the first radio I bought myself. Before this one I used the one I've had since I was a child. It's super lightweight so you can easily bring it with you somewhere! That's also what I mostly use it for. Similar to how you would use a speaker.
I guess this counts right? I really like to have everything I use look nice and fit my style. It's a small way to make daily life more fun. So, I got an old mouse. I'm thinking of getting another one but for now, this is the one I use.
This is definitely not my first one loll. I think I have like 4 of these laying around somewhere, but they only kind of work. This one also has it's issues but I chose this one for my blog because I really like the design!
I recently bought this because I'm getting a room makeover soon and I thought it would look better than the red one in my new room. I still use the red one tho, but I use this one when I'm just listening to CD's in my room!
I have some other random stuff that's not included because it doesn't work or for other reasons. I know there are a lot of people on spacehey who collect old tech which is SO cool. So if you own any cool older tech I would love to read about in the comments!

i have a certain preference and attachment to old tech. it actually makes me feel like technology is rising, compared to the plain stupid homogenous blocks of devices we have nowadays. these have so much life and personality. i wish similar designs were back on new tech
π also i wish i had a retro collection like urs. only things i have is an old nokia and the DS lite

I have a question. Is that Samung phone a SGH-X640? It looks strangely similarly to mine
no it's a SGH-E300!

Well dang it. Well here's my story about my Samsung flip phone. I've gotten it when my friend wanted a classic Nokia phone so I have him a Nokia 3410 and he gave me the sgh-x640. There are some problems like the phone looking like it survived the gulf war, the battery holder is weak af and it needs tape to hold it together. But if I ignore that it's a really nice phone. First of all it has a camera second it has games like from bootleg Bejeweled twist to poker to solitaire that has a man holding a gun in his head in the title. It has MIDI versions of friends, Sandstorm, Atlantis etc. One time I actually used it for calling and text, reason why is because Serbia still supports 2g and 3g with the exception of mine carrier that shutdown 3g and not 2g idk why they even bothered.
