Pylon ratings

Kind of late but I love bea so I wanted to rate my favorite songs on her album!!

Pylon (8/10) - perfect introduction to this album! Exactly the right amount of melancholy and rawness I would expect from her~

Sun has set (10/10) - funny story, I refused to listen to this song when I heard that she was coming out with an album so that I could hear it in order with the rest of the songs! Anyways, it paid off, cause this is one of my favorite songs of her entire discography!

Estranged (7/10) - this song is so fake it flowers~ this is the kind of song I hear when I think of bea! I think that also kind of means that it's an average bea song, but it's still very enjoyable.

Switchblade (9/10) - i'm honestly a contrarian because I thought this would be a popular song so I lowkey tuned it out thinking it would be overrated... but I saw that people really do not like this song, and I don't understand why? The beat is quirky but like that's bea. Anyway I listened to it again and it gained this kind of understated aura, so much so that it became one of my favorites.

Write me a letter (8/10) - I love the transition from her classic sound to a more rockstar vibe throughout this song. This song definitely feels like a transition into this new era of hers!

It's alright (6/10) - comparatively, this isn't as good of a score because this just sounds like a beatopia song, but mind you beatopia was a nearly perfect album. And 6/10 is above average.

In Motion (6/10) - this song definitely feels like it fits the album, and to me it feels like an interlude in a way. I'm a big fan of this whine almost scream she does occasionally throughout. 

Memories (8/10) - this song doesn't particularly fit the concept of this album and follows the same themes of a "average bea song", but somehow this seems like a perfection of that craft. All while still being refreshing.

Nothing to prove (3/10) - I'm gonna be so real, I love the concept of hayley williams being on a bea track, but this song is unlistenable for me. That chorus is... rough... I love them both tho~

Radio (9/10) - maybe I was led by the name, but I thought this was going to be a radio hit the first time I heard it. I feel like this song expresses the concept of the album so well, and it's so catchy.

Powerlines (10/10) - I had this playing nonstop when I first heard this. This song feels like me somehow in terms of sound? I really resonate with the guitar riff at the end. Everything feels so yearny and somber, like a cloudy day, I love it. My favorite on the album for sure

Spark (9/10) - this is one of the more simple songs on the album. Whatever she was trying to do with this song, it worked. It feels like a bittersweet song in a commercial that you keep coming back to. 

Despite that (5/10) - somehow whatever worked with spark didn't work for me on this song. Short but in a way that leaves something to be desired. Not a bad or especially good song, but somewhere in the middle

Satellite (10/10) - I absolutely adore everything she put into this song. If the first verse was the entire song I would be satisfied. If the chaos of the chorus was the whole song, I would be just as satisfied. Somehow she found a perfect balance between the two. I already liked the song, but then I found out chino moreno did the backing vocals? It all came together so perfectly

Anyway, thank you bea! Overall, I give the album 8/10 and I think it's one of my favorites of all time. For sure my favorite bea album.
