Virtue signaling is the public expression of moral values or political opinions intended to boost one's social standing or look like a good person, often without taking real action.
wokeness is basically virtue signalling
yeah no. "woke" is an aave term that means you are aware of the state of things around you (racism etc). white people have taken the term and twisted and made fun of it for so long that now people think "woke" means something like "caring about things too much" or "not really caring but acting like you do". aka virtue signaling. woke =/= virtue signaling, youve just fallen for white people bullshit

yeah well, don't get me wrong, awareness is good, but it gets to a point. i see politicians, businesses and individuals just plaster shit for the sake of it so often. most 'woke' people that i've met are practically trend-hopping. awareness isn't something special, being aware is the basis for holding opinions, and showing off how aware you are is literally, virtue signalling. the term evolved into something fake and commercial. and i hate it because of that.
