A Wilbran poem I wrote a few months ago

Quiet

Quiet, quiet while you sleep,

The keys cold in my palm as I leave.

I glance back at you tear stained face.

God, I'm sorry, I said what I said.

Quiet, quiet in the dark.

Thoiugh my mind isn't.

The metal of the car warm beneath my hands.

I'm sorry for leaving, It's all I know.

Quiet, quiet on the road.

The steering weel covered in my white knuckles.

I know I should do better.

I try to do better,

But I can't.

Quiet, quiet when my tears my free.

I'm sorry Wil

I think through glassy eyes.

I'm sorry Wil,

I'm sorry for hurting you, doubting you.

I'm sorry,

I'm sorry for not being a good enough lover nor friend.

I'm sorry Wil,

I'm sorry for not being enough, for being too much.

I'm sorry Wil,

I'm sorry that I couldn't love you right while I was there,

Maybe I could love you better from afar.

I'm sorry Wil.
