Lately, I’ve been feeling sad; even when I’m with friends, I feel like something is missing. It’s getting harder and harder for me to sleep. I’m usually surrounded by people, yet I can’t shake this overwhelming feeling that I’ll die someday and no one would care. After all, I’ve always felt like an accessory—like a tiny footnote marking my existence in an irritating color. It’s not as if I go around expressing my feelings every day; I usually laugh and share good times with my friends. But when I get home and walk into my room, everything feels irritating, and the only remedy is to lie in bed and think. I would talk to my friends about this if I could, but they’re all dealing with their own problems—which is to be expected during the teenage years—and I don’t want to be annoying or insensitive toward them.

If you read this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
