Why is finding a university so hard Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑)

So like I'm in high school right which means you gotta think about which college you gotta go right?? I've been thinking about it for the past like.. 5 months? I've changed on which major to go to over time, I used to wanna do architecture but seeing the job market for architecture in my country kinda sucks I switched to biology or medbio or just anything biology related so I can work in a medical lab.

I am living abroad and has been living abroad for a long time so I initially planned to study in my home country (Indonesia) so I can work there and help my country a bit yeah?? The fees are also aren't that expensive hell it's cheaper than most univs so it shouldn't be a problem right??? Well turns out the job market SUCKS. Like it actually sucks. I heard that the salary is low but actually seeing it was JAW DROPPING. New entry jobs pays you like 300 usd Per MONTH??????? WHAT???? Thats how I can earn if I do part time in the country im currently living in and thats if I work only on the week ends! Thats insane! Also you'll probably get arrested if you dare even try to improve the country. There was this guy that was from a really good university and he could've just go live in that country but he came back to Indonesia and tried to improve it. But he got accused of corruption and went to prison. (It's not nadiem makarim it was someone else I forgot)

Also a lot of people say that since I'm already living abroad in Japan I should use that privilege to live a good life and ngl... I hate that they're right. But on the other hand, the current prime minister really hates foreigners and the minority I'm in. I'm paranoid that it's gonna get worse over time so I don't really wanna live here. Also I don't think I'm able to get a job here tbh.. theres this awful stereotype thats detached from common sense but people just believe in them I guess.

So after that I look into my neighbouring home country like Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. Singapore was a bit too expensive so I crossed off that one. Australia is cool and all but it seems a bit competitive(?) like it's great that theres a lot of scholarships but idk actually I haven't look into it that deep. Malaysia seems to have a chance as their univ isn't that costly and it's also close to Indonesia, seems like I can live there compared to Indonesia (sorry for the smoke malaysians :( ) I then thought about New Zealand and hey their wages are decent (what the hell do you mean you pay your rent weekly??) and getting into their university is pretty easy actually! Sadly finding scholarships is really hard and it's so costly to live there for me. But my plan is to live there somehow because theres a lot of jobs about researching there.

I've been also thinking about portfolios and stuff, I don't really have much but I am in the schools' organisation so thats something right? I have no clue why people say you need a portfolio for getting into a university? The only instance I saw was NUS but thats just because they're prestigious and all. I think they meant for getting into scholarships?? Even so I try to get SOMETHING in my portfolio so I don't look lame lmao.

Hopefully I can get into a good university and have my dream job. And also a question: do laptops matter for someone planning to study in biology? I heard it doesn't really matter as long as you're not in engineering or architecture but just to make sure.
