Anhedonia [Poem]

Do you remember the time?

The time you could let the music course through your veins
When dreams would take on a new shape, so vivid
The time you could savor the taste of your favorite latte
Let yourself stare into the trees without it being a painting

There was a time...

There was a time where curiosity trumped pleasure and pain
You looked out into the world with the tint of sky blue instead of the tint of the pill bottle
The only chemical compound you cared about was caffeinated
The only medicine you took was the thrill of her touch
The only blanket you needed was her body

And so let it be...

Let it be that you're now bound to the indifferent snow
Why do your flames continue to burn in this pool?
Why do you shut out the suffocation?
Let it be that you're at the mercy of the snow

You will bear the mark or sleep
You will bear the mark of apathy
Grasp the smoldering iron, meat computer
Anhedonia
