Last night's gig with Evolution at River Grille was interesting but good. Small room as to be expected but the band sounded good overall.
At least we weren't crammed in a corner this time!
Two things happened that were unexpected. First, we saw a cute couple dancing and singing during the first set, so I walked up to them in between breaks. The guy said "Hi I'm Andrew" and he said the girl's name but I forgot it (sorry!) He told me that "you fuckin' shred" and "you helped break the ice because this is our first date."
I'm a matchmaker now?!
Second set was off the charts! A group of people stormed in, about 15 or so, wearing dresses and suits?! So I asked "What happened? High school reunion?" and someone said "No, we just left a wedding and heard a band playing so we had to come in." They added SO much energy to the night, it was wild! I learned "Sugar" by Fall Out Boy ON THE SPOT because someone requested it. The band knew it but not me, so I had the bassist Louie yell the chord changes as we were going along. Whatever gets the job done! All in all it was a successful evening.
Chatham is a funky little town though!
I have two gigs with Supernova coming up but...yep...got two more fill-in gigs with Evolution again and Rubber Duckie Riot as well. Evolution asked me to sub for a gig on Saturday September 26th at a VFW hall in Pompton Lakes. Sure, why not! And RDR asked me to sub for a gig at a car show on Wednesday September 23, place called Blue Arrow Farms in Warwick, NY. So I will have THREE shows in one week soon.
Nobody talk to me so I can nap for a week!!
I joke but this will be intense for sure. And as of tonight, Supernova has SEVEN confirmed dates already for 2027. I can't say anything yet but when I'm given the green light, watch out!!
At least I got to relax today.
