I. THE COMMERCIAL GAZE

In recent years, the goth subculture has been subject to intense fetishization, superficial sexualization, and a mundane gaze by mainstream society. It fills me with genuine terror to witness how a rich, dark artistic identity is reduced to mere trends. The true subculture goes far beyond bold eyeliner or an attractive dark outfit; it is rooted in literature, music, philosophy, and a deep appreciation for the beauty hidden within shadows and mortality.

La subcultura gótica en los últimos años ha sido objeto de fetiches, de sexualización y de una mirada mundana por parte de muchas personas, que me llena de terror. Resulta aterrador ver cómo una identidad tan rica y oscura se reduce a una simple moda pasajera. La subcultura va mucho más allá de un maquillaje llamativo o una prenda que te parezca atractiva; nace de la música, la literatura, la filosofía y la apreciación de la belleza en la oscuridad.

II. CULTIVATED REBELLION

Goth women and men are individuals who continuously cultivate themselves intellectually and creatively. They actively choose to break free from rigid social structures and refuse to exist in mundane ignorance, rejecting harmful, conservative, and oppressive social patterns that dictate how one ought to think, live, and express oneself in this world.

Las mujeres y los hombres goth son personas que se cultivan, que deciden romper el sistema y no vivir en la mundana ignorancia con patrones dañinos y conservadores. No aceptamos las normas vacías que intentan imponer cómo debemos pensar o vivir; elegimos el pensamiento crítico, la libertad estética y el conocimiento autodidacta.

III. MIDNIGHT MUSINGS

In all honesty, this isn't intended to be a grand philosophical treatise on gothic culture. It was simply the cascade of thoughts flowing through my mind while putting on my makeup in front of the mirror, haha.

Realmente no es un blog filosófico sobre el goth, solo mis pensamientos mientras me maquillaba frente al espejo, jaja. A veces el ritual cotidiano del encaje y las sombras de ojos despierta las reflexiones más honestas sobre quiénes somos y qué representamos.
