I recently knew that the boy I was crushing on had a girlfriend

School started on Monday. I wasn't exactly thrilled about the new term, except for seeing my bestie, Ashley—and maybe spotting a few cute guys. In class, I noticed a guy—a new boy named Nolan. He was quiet, even a bit shy. Being the insecure person I am, I didn't dare approach him to strike up a friendship. So, I just started stealing a few discreet glances at him (I hope). On Wednesday, we had a back-to-school kickoff event. While wandering around the courtyard, I dragged Ashley along to spy on Nolan. He was with his friends. A little later, I found him off in a quiet corner; he was holding a handbag, with a girl standing next to him. Needless to say, a bitter taste filled my mouth.
