I have a problem. I'm 18, just graduated high school, and I start university next month. I never had a job in my life before, I've applied to like 500+ jobs, had multiple interviews in the past but was never selected. I need a job so I can pay my university tuition and I'm broke af, but I live in Canada and Canada for some reason hates it's young adult citizens and doesn't wanna hire people my age. So I'm gonna ask the public: what jobs can I work at as someone who never was employed in their life. You're gonna ask first: any volunteer experience? yes, two. I volunteered as a library assistant in high school and as an art curator and they're both on my resume. I honestly just need help and some advice tbh because I don't wanna be like 25 and unemployed or even worse 30 and unemployed and never had a job before.
what jobs can I work at as someone who never had a job before

Not sure if it helps but if you're female presenting you're more likely to get hired at a botanical garden! I worked at one selling tickets on weekends (8 hour shifts) and from 3-9 ish on weekdays. I had no prior job experience nor did i have any volunteer work done. I've found local botanical gardens that have older people in charge are more willing to hire, especially since botanical gardens can be understaffed. I really enjoyed working there. Another would probably be local art stores! They might not pay a super high amount, but they're also more willing to hire in my expierience.

i kinda-sorta got lucky with a tattoo apprenticeship after school, but the shop closed.
so then i lwk tried the old fashioned way for funsies.
went door-to-door, gave a handshake, gave my resume in.
got an interview like a week later and got a job.
granted, the place was a sort of department store and it sucked BALLS, but it was something ig. (i did leave tho.)
I did the same thing with going door to door handing my resume (the employees threw my resume away and I never got a callback)

thats unfortunately how the job market is rn (for like the past... idek how long but definitely picked up since covid) ToT every employer is sooo desperate for employees but only want to hire the ones who already have years of experience so they dont have to "waste" time and money on training
keep trying! someone will be happy to take on a first timer eventually

also! unless theres any reason you cant or shouldnt (like health or safety reasons), go for physical labor type jobs that a lot of people try to avoid. like farm work or janitorial work or that sort of thing. they tend to be a little easier to get into because. well. most people dont want to do those jobs

I was gonna work at my dad's farm but it's unfortunately closed for the season and doesn't open again until next summer :/. but thanks for the advice!
