Pigs are an incredibly misunderstood animal

pigs are so misunderstood and there are so many myths around them like that they're dirty smelly and dumb pigs are actually very clean animals and know to keep their sleeping and eating areas clean and even do it as piglets though they do roll in mud to cool them down protect their skin and deter insects but they aren't just gross slobs and don't really have an oder outside of regular outside animal oder as long as they are being kept properly

they are also highly intelligent and their intelligence is comparable to dogs and primates they have great long term memory they can remember maze layouts for weeks and they learn them systematically rather than randomly they can learn tasks within an hour can use mirrors to find stuff and recognize themselves in a mirror and can understand verbal commands and perform them as well as dolphins could and they can tell where human attention focuses is and pass the pointing test which even apes fail at and they can use tools and could figure out a join stick could be used to direct a pointer on a screen they can also recognize humans even those dressed alike and remember which ones they do and don't like they have a perception of time and can lead other pigs away from food rewards

they are also very intelligent socially they can sense and respond to emotions of other pigs and provide emotional support they will also go to owners for comfort like dogs and a pet potbellied pig named lulu knew to go get help when her owner had a heart attack and got help by walking in the middle of the road back to the house until a driver followed her inside and are able to free other pigs from traps and have personalities similar to the way humans do humans

there's honestly so much pigs can do and so many animals people think are stupid or gross are just wrong like dodo birds dodo birds were not stupid they were curious when they first saw humans and they ate rocks to help with digestions and help supplement minerals not because they were just dumb birds and would come up to them because they didn't know yet they they were something to be feared and insects aren't dirty or gross they clean themselves regularly and species like ants regularly clean out waste and corpses
