I used to hate metal fans; I thought all they did was scream into the mic and wear black-and-white makeup. That was a long time ago. I truly believed these metal heads were lying about liking this music. I used to shit on them with my friends; those friends are still in contact. They still hate metal. Somehow, I found myself listening to metal back in 2024, didn't even know those were metal. Last year, when a friend saw I was listening to Slipknot, that's when he told me it was metal. I tried to tell him it was probably soft metal, but realized it wasn't, after googling.
Maybe metal music is misunderstood by many people. I thought it was all edgy, loud screaming, and screeching. Bad metal music might be like that. To say edgy, I thought it's gonna be some "Go kill yourself, or I kill myself" shit like that, but it's more like "You're hurting, you want to kill yourself, but I'm here for you". That's just the feeling I'm explaining. Before I was into rock music, still into it, but definitely a metal person now.
Is it true that the thing you hate is what you become?
