Okay, I feel like it's finally time that we talk about something very important... Dr Pepper.
I'm not even going to pretend to be unbiased here. I LOVE Dr Pepper. There's just something about that sweet, slightly spicy, ridiculously refreshing flavor that makes it so much better than most other sodas. Give me a cold Dr Pepper with a ridiculous amount of ice and I'm happy.
Before I get too carried away talking about how much I love it, let's have a tiny history lesson! Dr Pepper dates all the way back to the 1880s and was created in Waco, Texas. A pharmacist named Charles Alderton is credited with creating the drink while working at a drugstore. It eventually became one of the most well-known soft drinks in America.
And here's another fun fact: despite the name, Dr Pepper isn't actually a type of pepper-flavored drink, and the exact reason it was given the name "Dr Pepper" has never been definitively established.
So basically, people have been enjoying Dr Pepper for well over 100 years... and I understand why.
There are so many sodas out there, but Dr Pepper just hits differently. I love that it has a flavor that's so hard to compare to anything else. Coke tastes like Coke. Pepsi tastes like Pepsi. But Dr Pepper? Dr Pepper tastes like Dr Pepper. And don't even get me started on the different flavors. Cherry Dr Pepper? Delicious. Creamy Coconut? Absolutely. Vanilla? yes please. I will happily try basically any Dr Pepper flavor you put in front of me.
There's also something about getting a fountain Dr Pepper with the perfect amount of ice. You know exactly what I mean if you know.Β
Is Dr Pepper the best soda? I'm obviously going to say YES. But I want to know what everyone else thinks. Are you a Dr Pepper person? Coke? Pepsi? Sprite? Root beer?Β
And if you ARE a Dr Pepper person, tell me your favorite flavor because I need to know if I'm missing out on something.
Until next time... I'll be over here drinking my Dr Pepper.
