So aging out of NCA was traumatic. As I’ve blogged before, we all know that NCA comes with an expiration date. We all pretend it’ll never come. We live in a state of grace, through years of pain and joy, through found family and shared dreams.
But all good things come to an end. And the end is… sudden. One day they are teammates and family, the next, friends that will eventually grow apart. Memories fade, so does fame. Time doesn’t stand still no matter how much you wish it would.
But fortunately I fell back in love with an old dream. I’ve always loved horses. I’ve loved jumping and dressage. So I got into riding again. I’m loving it. I don’t do dressage so much but I fell into Hunter Jumper class. At first I thought it was show jumping on easy mode but it’s the most difficult discipline I’ve ever seen. You can win or lose before you even salute the judges. Perfection is the baseline.
I’m really excited about this. It feels like coming home.
