grunge's "35th" anniversary

happy 35th anniversary to pearl jam's ten. very impactful album in the rock genre which also gave way to the grunge community. one of my favorite eras to imagine myself being a part of if it was the 90s.

i was thinking way back to jennifer finch's death last month about how powerful grunge was. maybe they didn't realize it at the time, but they were genuinely doing good. a lot of social, cultural, and political issues were going on during that era in the late 80s/early 90s (but when are they not?) and just a handful of bands got together and hosted benefit concerts and fundraisers. i just thought that was amazing.

not even necessarily just grunge bands, but they all just hung out like one big group and knew each other like a small little community. like l7, garbage, RATM etc. the movement quite literally died as fast as it rose. mia zapata, kurt cobain, then soundgarden breaking up, and layne staley going missing.

and i might just be yapping but that makes me think about my own life. i wanna have people like that in my circle to rely on and be able to support. that's why i love the 90s. there will be nothing like it, and it's really sad to hear.

and who knows. maybe i'll start or join a band one day.
