ODE TO A KISSING CHAIR (an analogy)

kissing chair

It stands in the park, deceptive (brazen)

in the unbroken simmering sunlight.

So romantic.  Inviting.

Engraved with all the beautiful things.

But now, the test.

Riding the heated bull.

Have a seat in the beauty, and linger a moment

(if you dare)

with the one you love.

Look deeply into each other's eyes.

How long, exactly, can you hold a kiss

while withstanding the burn?

"What if we kissed in the brazen bull"

Exactly.

Or, is love a dressed up Brazen Bull?

How long can love last in the face of pain?

Is love best approached outside the glaring light of day?

Etc.

Based on a discussion regarding this chair, donated as a public sculpture by movie director, placed in the direct sunlight at a public park despite there being plenty of shade around it.

Just guessing why.
